Welcome to the 2026 Purdue Landscape Report

As we step into a new year, the Purdue Landscape Report team is excited to welcome you to the first newsletter of 2026. Whether you are a long-time reader, a landscape professional, an arborist, a nursery grower, or a homeowner invested in the health and beauty of your landscape, we’re glad you’re here.

Each year brings new challenges, new research, and new opportunities in the world of trees, ornamentals, weeds, insects, invasive species, and plant health. Our mission remains the same: to deliver timely, science-based information that helps you make informed decisions and maintain resilient, thriving landscapes across Indiana and beyond.

Looking Ahead in 2026

This year promises to be a dynamic one for green industry professionals and landscape stewards alike. From shifting weather patterns to emerging pests and diseases, our team is committed to helping you stay ahead of the curve. In the coming months, you can expect:

  • Up-to-date insights on insect and disease activity across the region
  • Research-based recommendations to support sustainable landscape management
  • Guidance on adapting to environmental challenges, including extreme temperatures and precipitation swings
  • Timely alerts on invasive species, regulatory updates, and diagnostic trends
  • Educational opportunities, workshops, and field days from Purdue specialists

We aim to keep every issue practical, relevant, and grounded in the real challenges landscapers and plant health professionals face each day.

A Note on Changes Regarding the Newsletter, Website, and PDF’s

Due to federal guidelines, we are required to remove all PDFs from the website by April 26, 2026, to ensure ADA compliance. Title II of the ADA states: Title II of the ADA requires state and local governments to make sure that their services, programs, and activities are accessible to people with disabilities. Title II applies to all services, programs, or activities of state and local governments, from adoption services to zoning regulation. This includes the services, programs, and activities that state and local governments offer online and through mobile apps.

In addition to the PDF’s, you may notice a few minor changes to the site beginning in April. We recognize that many people download and print the newsletters’ PDFs. Downloading and printing can still occur by printing the articles from the website, but the formatting will be different from the traditional PDF’s. We apologize for any issues this may cause.

Thank You

Thank you for joining us as we kick off 2026. We look forward to another year of growing, learning, and tackling landscape challenges together. Here’s to a productive and resilient season ahead!
